(Konstantin Grcic) There is something beautifully honest about this Jean Prouvé´s table – its construction (which is like that of a bridge), its material (sheet metal), its colour (black lacquer). Neither a trained architect nor an engineer, Prouvé was an ingenious craftsman, or a ”factory man”, as he preferred to call himself. Prouvé found satisfaction in the way he got bogged down with the simple day-to-day reality of things.

Gerrit Thomas Rietveld, easy chair (beugelstoel)1927. Made of aluminum coated steel with a seat of white painted premoulded plywood. The caps of the armrests are made of solid wood. This was the first metal chair with a seat and back made from a single unit. 'Chairs" the catalogue of the Delt faculty of Architecture found at ivanhoe books.
