A new state - Isle of roses

“Insulo de la Rozoj” this is, in Esperanto, the name of the Isola delle Rose (Isle of Roses ), a floating structure, an utopia state having lasted “on water”, for around one year starting from May 1st 1968. The Bolognese ‘engineer Giorgio Rosa, its founder and builder, had already started printing stamps of the sovereign micro-state - an iron platform six miles in the offing of di Rimini - when the Italian Army, after hardly two months from its foundation, took possession of the isle declaring the embargo.
